Moving properties can be costly whether that be buying or leasing a property for personal or business use.

Below we have listed some moving costs you should be mindful of.

Main Expenses

Renting A Property

Bond – Normally 4 Weeks Rent
Rent Upfront – Usually 1 or 2 Weeks Rent

Buying/Selling A Property

• Real Estate/ Buyers Agent Fees – 1-3% Sale Price
• Stamp Duty – 3-4% Sale Price
• Solicitor/Conveyancer Fees – $500-$2000
• Valuations & Surveys – $400-$500

Moving Company Fees

Moving company fees vary greatly depending on location, size and access of property and whether the client requests a fixed or hourly rated fee.

Most moving companies charge

• 2 Movers + Truck: $120-$200 Per Hour
• 3 Movers + Truck: $160-$240 Per Hour
• 4 Movers + Truck: $240-$350 Per Hour

Additional Fees

Call Out Fee – Normally calculated from moving companies base – Most times is either a 30 minute or 1 hour call out fee

Return To Base Fee – Normally calculated from clients final address back to companies base.
• Piano/Heavy Item Removal Fee – Charged for pianos and heavy items – $300-500 fixed fee plus $3-$5 per stair.
• Toll/ Petrol Charge – Normally calculated at end based on tolls driven through plus minimal processing fee.
• Long Distance Fee – Normally charged for interstate moves – Based on kilometres travelled.
• Overnight Accommodation – If a mover is required to travel and stay overnight –
$200-$500 per mover per night.

Storage Fees – This will range on the size and type of storage you require. It is normally charged as a pro rata monthly amount.

Utility Connection Fees – NBN connection fees, gas installation if the property doesn’t have it connected

Moving Insurance

Cleaning Fees – Pre settlement and end of lease cleaning fees $100-$700.

Installation/Assembly Fees – Installing water filter/tap to fit fridge, hanging televisions and framed artwork. Assembling/Disassembling furniture fees
