Types of moving equipment

Moving companies use a wide variety of tools and equipment to ensure your belongings are moved safely, carefully and free of damage.

The main equipment moving companies use are:

Trolleys
Trolleys (Standard)

Not like a shopping trolley, these trolleys come with 2 or 3 wheels.

Two wheel trolleys are ideal on flat surfaces and when on tight turns and corners of properties.

Three wheel trolleys are ideal when stairs are involved such as high rise apartments with no lifts.

Trolleys (Motorised)

These trolleys usually are on a conveyor belt and have electric motors which allows the trolley to tilt and use hardly any strength from the equipment handler.

These are ideal for heavy items such as pot plants, statues,

Ignite Removals uses specialised moving trolleys with built in securing straps to safely move your items.

Dollies
Standard Dolly

A standard dolly typically has a wooden base covered with a rubber protective mat.
A standard dolly is great with moving heavy furniture within a property or where there is a longer distance between the moving vehicle and the property.
These dolls have the ability to move 360 degrees as the wheels fully rotate.

Piano Dolly

As the name suggests a Piano Dolly is ideal for moving pianos. Piano dollies tend to have larger and thicker wheels than a standard dolly with a thick metal frame.
Piano dolly wheels are usually fixed so they are designed to go straight as opposed to being turned round corners.

Small Dolly

A small dolly is approximately 5 cm high and usually in a triangle shape. These have very small wheels and are usually used in a set of 3 or 4. One dolly on each side of the furniture.
These are ideal for lighter furniture or where sharper turns are required due to the dollies manoeuvrability.

Furniture slider

A furniture slider is great for sliding furniture into place on carpet or timber floors. These are especially ideal for heavy furniture with sharp legs/feet in order to not scratch or mark floors.
